Joanne Peh once made a fashion boo-boo in her bid to look good

She is one of those actresses who always looks like she has a healthy glow.

Peh started her career in 2002, after winning the title of Miss Elegant and Miss Personality in the Miss Singapore Universe competition.

The Straits Times Urban asked her to share her beauty secrets at the preview of Pandora's Essence Collection, which is a set of charms from the Danish jewellery company, earlier this month.

What is the one product you would not step out of the house without?

Bella Skin Care's OxySkin Revitalizing Spray to freshen up my skin throughout the day.

Sometimes, when I have to film for long hours, I will start to feel grime on my face by midday. The spray has a high percentage of oxygen in it and also has healing properties.

What is the one grooming service you cannot do without?

I get Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) hair removal treatment about once every six weeks. Sometimes, girls have to deal with all this unwanted hair and it makes us embarrassed and too uncomfortable to wear shorts or sleeveless T-shirts.

I don't really like shaving because the regrowth is very coarse.

What, in your opinion, is the best beauty invention?

Tweezerman tweezers grip the hair better than others. The tip is sharp enough to pick up fine hair without hurting.

What is your favourite perfume?

Anything that my boyfriend (Singapore-based Chinese actor Qi Yuwu) buys for me. He knows a lot about scents, much more than I do, and has given me several cult brands.

I really like Creed's Love In Black (left). It makes me think of a field of black flowers. I would say it smells mysterious because of its many layers.

What is the most ridiculous thing you have done in the name of beauty?

Coloured contact lenses used to be something that I could not do without. I wore purple ones too. I realised that I looked quite silly in them. When I wore them, my eyes also used to get very dry easily.

Give us a beauty tip.

Go for facials regularly. If you maintain your skin when you're young, you can actually prolong the youth of your skin. It will be a bit late to do anything when you start to see problems.
