What tipped 15-year-old Etta Ng into deciding to have her mother, former actress Elaine Ng, reported to the police for child abuse?

Ng said it could be a remark she makes to the child whenever she is angry, that frightened the girl, her love child with actor Jackie Chan, reported Ming Pao Daily News.

In another interview on Sunday following her arrest last Wednesday, she said: "I committed a little wrong. Sometimes when I'm angry I would tell her, 'No matter what, if mummy were to die, you will be taken care of.'"

Ng, who is out on bail, said the incident was not due to assault or her alleged drinking, which was revealed by Etta in an interview over the weekend. "She was scared by this remark I made and did not want to lose me," Ng, 42, told i-Cable TV.

On Sunday, mother and child had not seen each other for five days. Etta was said to be still in hospital after school staff she spoke to last week called the police, who suspected that she had been abused.

But she had sent a letter to apologise to Ng, said the former TVB star. On Sunday, the mother was spotted leaving her home looking worn out and wearing the same clothes she had worn for the past two days.
