Brazilian football starlet Neymar may be a dazzler who leaves his markers embarassed by making them look like fools on the pitch.
However, the tables were turned on him after he was left red-faced at the Ballon d'Or awards on Monday (Jan 13).
After he was invited on stage at the prestigous annual football awards, he did the courteous thing of stretching out his hand for a handshake with the female co-presenter Fernanda Lima.
At the same time, Lima had intended to place her hand behind Neymar's back.
That combination led to an awkward moment between the duo, which was captured on video cameras though it was not enough to take the gloss off the highlight of the night.
Portugese star Cristiano Ronaldo was crowned Fifa World Player of the year for the second time in his career, beating away competition from his great rival, Lionel Messi, who had won four successive titles and French maestro Franck Ribery.
Retired coach Jupp Heynckes was named Coach of the Year for the first time after his Bayern Munich team won an unprecedented Champions League, Bundesliga and German Cup treble in the 2012/2013 season.
The team of the year featured Manuel Neuer in goal, Philipp Lahm, Sergio Ramos, Thiago Silva and Dani Alves in defence, midfielders Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Ribery with Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Messi in attack.
