The Hobbit's Green Dragon Pub opens to the public

The Green Dragon, a popular hobbit watering hole frequented by Tolkien's characters Frodo, Sam and Pippin, is now open to humans and tourists.It was originally destroyed for The Return of the King movie, and was rebuilt as part of The Hobbit's film set with functioning plumbing.Located in Hobbiton, near Matamata in the North Island of New Zealand, film fanatics can visit the pub and other tourist attractions that form part of the film set.Visitors can grab a pint - human-sized,of course - and take a break from sightseeing.On offer for a limited period are also ales that are themed after The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings storyverse.The pub was officially opened on Nov 29 by New Zealand's Prime Minister John Key, according to The Daily Mail.Click on the thumbnails to see photos of The Green Dragon.
