Soul singer Farisha Ishak has won TV reality singing competition The Final 1.
The 18-year-old received more public votes to beat Shaun Jansen, 28, after their final performances at the Star Performing Arts Centre on Wednesday night (Aug 21), which was broadcast live on MediaCorp Channel 5.
She takes home a $50,000 recording contract and $50,000 in cash, the biggest prize in local reality TV talent show history.
Fans voted by phone, SMS and on Facebook between 9pm and 9.50pm, just before the results show at 10pm.
Two Members of Parliament from the finalists' constituencies were also in the audience to support their constituents.
National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan was there to support Ms Ishak, a Sembawang resident, while Ms Irene Ng was there to cheer on Mr Jansen, a Tampines resident.
