Chinese diva Faye Wong is pregnant and the father is Hong Kong-Canadian heartthrob Nicholas Tse, claims a prominent Chinese microblogger.
Just days after a video showing a kiss between Wong and Tse -- who once dated for four years more than a decade ago -- was released online, sparking a frenzy on social media, a Chinese writer and media organizer by the name of Du Guyi has claimed that Wong is two months pregnant and that Tse is the father.
If proven true, this will be the third child for both celebrities. Wong, 45, has two daughters from her previous marriages to Chinese musician Dou Wei and actor Li Yapeng, while Tse, 34, has two sons from his previous marriage to Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung.
The rumor is said to have been confirmed by one of Wong's staff, who says that Wong is being very careful with the pregnancy due to her advanced age, and is taking various vitamins and supplements as well as Chinese herbal medicine to prepare her body.
Accoridng to Want China Times, there are also unconfirmed reports that the couple spent 5 million yuan (US$815,000) on 10 eminent monks from Taiwan to recite the Diamond Sutra for seven days as part of a blessing ceremony for the unborn child.
Some claimed that Wong is unable to announce the pregnancy as it has not passed the three-month mark (a Chinese superstition).
However, the diva's manager has denied rumors that the couple is already expecting a child, reports China Topix.
"They reportedly reconciled yesterday and she was said to be pregnant today. What's next? Will there be another speculations days later that the baby is born?" she said.
According to the website of Shanghai's China Business News, the media frenzy over the rekindled romance is said to be worth millions of dollars of free advertising for Tse's new celebrity cooking TV show, Chef Nic, which premiered on Zhejiang Television in late June.
