The agent of top Chinese diva Faye Wong has issued a statement refuting the rumours that she is in legal trouble over alleged drug use, reported China Daily.
Earlier on Tuesday, rumours were circulating on micro-blogging site Sina Weibo that a "diva" was arrested for drug use in Beijing.
Many were said to have believed that the "diva" was Faye Wong as that is the title she is usually referred to in Chinese media.
Her manager, Katie Chen, has stepped up to defend the 44-year-old Wong and quelled the allegations that she has used drugs.
According to China Daily, Chen asked the media in a statement to "refrain from spreading arbitrary rumours," concluding that her company reserves the right to "pursue legal action" on the matter.
In a separate incident last month, Chinese playwright Ning Caishen and director Zhang Yuan were arrested for drug-use in separate incidents, said China Daily.
