Singaporean singer Kit Chan, 42, has become the first contestant to be voted out of China's popular singing competition 'I Am A Singer'.

In a live performance uploaded on the show's Faceboook page on Jan 9, the local star sang a heartbreaking rendition of Jacky Cheung's song.

Chan had taken part in the third season of 'I Am A Singer', and is the first Singaporean artist to do so.

However, on the elimination show on Friday night (Jan 9), she became the first to be kicked out.

The votes are based on the 500 audiences on the show.

Though her rendition made some tear up, it proved to be insufficient.

Netizens left comments on her video, outraged that such a touching performance could be voted out.

A Facebook user said: "How often do u get audiences moved to tears? Sung beautifully Kit Chan, our Singapore pride!"

Another said: "She sang so well. If she gets last place, it proves that the audience is using their butts to listen."

To which another replied, "She really got last place..."
