After accepting the role of Little Dragon Girl for Yu Zheng’s new drama, Return of the Condor Heroes <神鵰俠侶>, Michelle Chen has come under fire for playing the iconic character in the Jin Yong’s martial arts novel.

According to a report on Asianpopnews, many netizens have slammed the Taiwanese actress for being too fat for the role and think that her looks is incompatible to star as the graceful and otherworldly heroine.

Despite happily announcing that she has successfully shed off 5 kg for the role, Michelle continues to receive many criticisms.

One netizen said angrily, “Please do not force yourself. Even if you reduce your weight to 30 kg, your big face still weighs 15 kg. You are just not suitable [to play the role].”

On 18th September, Michelle addressed the criticisms on her Weibo. “I am the one who wanted to take on the Little Dragon Girl role. Who defines the rules for her looks. It’s a new interpretation. For all Jin Yong’s fans, I will do my best to inject a new life. Will not give up! ”

Despite her encouraging statement, Michelle continues to draw noises from netizens.

Even Hong Kong director, Wong Jing has once again joined in and wrote cheekily on his Weibo, “If I were Yang Guo, I will marry Guo Fu and makes Lu Wushuang my mistress. I will then ask Little Dragon Girl to help raise my child."
