Eliza Sam reportedly spends only $8 a day -- here's how

Eliza Sam (岑麗香) may have received an influx of jobs and earnings with her rising popularity, but she remains a frugal goddess in order reach her property ownership dreams.

According to an article in ihktv.com via Jayne Stars, in the short time span of three years, Eliza’s stardom rose incredibly, already ascending to leading status by starring opposite Bosco Wong (黃宗澤) in Mr. and Mrs. Bean <貓屎媽媽>.

She is often compared to Christine Kuo (苟芸慧) due to both beauty queens’ upbringing in Canada.

With Christine’s recent weight gain, TVB producers and advertisers reportedly dropped Christine from their radar and gave more work to Eliza instead.

Earlier, it was reported that Eliza has relied on extreme means to save up for buy a home to live with her family.

To reduce daily spending, Eliza admitted to eating the food props left over on set.

Besides going to work, Eliza rarely goes out, but when she does – she often carpools with friends to save money.

She has even slept overnight at the studios to avoid transportation fees going back home.

Although reported to spend only $50 HKD per daily, Eliza said it was impossible to keep the costs so low.

As well, most of her clothes and accessories were sponsored by companies, effectively reducing her need to go shopping.

When asked about her frugality, Eliza humbly replied, “One of my goals is to save up to buy an apartment, I want the house to be at least 1,000 to 2,000 square feet.

"It’s because my parents are used to living in a big place outside of Hong Kong, so I want them to live comfortably. But unfortunately, I don’t even have the down payment yet.”

Eliza also admitted that her only form of entertainment is watching movies, otherwise she prefers to not spend money on miscellaneous items.
