'Thinking Out Loud' hitmaker Ed Sheeran has revealed he used to wear a girdle because he was self-conscious about his weight.

The 'Thinking Out Loud' hitmaker was once so worried about his waist during his rise to stardom, he experimented using the device to help him look slimmer.

The 24-year-old star explained: "I tried it on for an awards show because I was wearing a shirt and my belly just went nuts. I was just like, 'No, this isn't happening'. It was like a corset."

The singer confessed he is concerned by the prospect of looking overweight while posing for pictures on the red carpet.

What's more, Ed revealed that a newly-tailored suit he donned for the recent Brit Awards, where he won the British Male Solo Act and Album of the Year prizes, no longer fits him.

He reflected: "It just means I'm a bit of a chubby b*****d."

However, Ed added he doesn't have the desire to spend hour after hour working out in the gym and is instead happy to have the physique of a regular guy.

He told The Sun newspaper: "I've never had a six-pack and that's like most of the guys in the world. We just want to eat burgers, not do sit-ups."
