Dick Lee to be honoured with coveted title during concert

Singaporean performer and composer Dick Lee will be officially conferred as a Steinway Artist during his concert titled 'An Evening with Dick Lee' which will be held at the DBS Arts Centre of the Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT) on Jul 8, 2013.Lee (real name Richard Lee Peng Boon) will be honoured the coveted title by Steinway Gallery Singapore on behalf of Steinway & Sons, reports AsiaOne.He will join the prestigious international roster with over 1,600 leading musicians including jazz star Diana Krall and pop icon Billy Joel. Lee will be the first Asian Steinway Artist in the pop/contemporary genre.Celine Goh, General Manager of Steinway Gallery Singapore, said, "We are very proud that Dick Lee has been named a Steinway Artist. Lee is renowned for his musical talent not only in the country but across the globe with numerous awards to his name. Having him to join the ranks with other esteemed Steinway Artists is a great celebration in the local music scene."Dick Lee said, "I am extremely honoured to be officially titled as a Steinway Artist. I have always loved playing on a Steinway piano because of the instrument's unparalleled sound quality. Being part of the Steinway family is a dream come true and I hope this will inspire future generations of Singaporeans to realise their, goals in music."Lee will be performing a number of his favourite hits during his one-hour concert scheduled at 8pm. Tickets for the concert are now up for sale on SISTIC to the general public. To celebrate Lee's conferment as a Steinway Artist, Steinway Gallery Singapore will donate a Steinway-designed Essex 108 upright piano to Asian Women's Welfare Association (AWWA), a charity organisation funded by Community Chest Singapore.Celine Goh added, "The donation of the Essex 108 is part of Steinway Gallery's CSR programme to assist AWWA particularly with regards to their children's programmes. We believe that music is a powerful tool that can enhance lives everywhere regardless of age and background."
