After the Miss World Singapore 2013 final ended with the crowning of United World College graduate Maria Anne-Zenieris, 18, more drama followed.

This time, it involved Mr Adrian Houghton, the father of runner-up Elizabeth Houghton, who suspected a man of preying on his 17-year-old goddaughter.

According to The New Paper, the 41-year-old operations director was alerted by his mother-in-law to a stranger who had approached her for her contact details.

Mr Houghton said his 'gut instinct' told him that the man was a pervert. Event  organiser Edmund Ooi and a friend had to physically restrain Mr Houghton from hitting the man.

The stranger, a bespectacled man who stood about 1.65m tall, had been spotted talking to the two girls.

Mr Houghton's god-daughter later told him that the man had taken her picture with his mobile phone and had asked for her number so that he could send it to her.

Although she did not give her number to the man, she had given him her email address, which Mr Houghton later forced him to delete from his phone.

Mr Ooi said that he had questioned the man, who had claimed that he was a guest of finalist Kayla Wong.

This was later found to be a lie, as Kayla and her five guests had already left together earlier.

After security were alerted, the man started deleting photos from his phone, which Mr Houghton took to be a sign of guilt, prompting him to call the police.

The police have confirmed they are currently investigating the incident.
