He billed himself as a nail artist to stars such as Kym Ng, Jesseca Liu, Dawn Yeoh, as well as blogger Xiaxue. But now, Deniz Lee, is in hot soup after customers who bought his manicure packages say he has become uncontactable. According to a report in The New Paper, these customers speak about how tough it is to book an appointment, even when they call a month in advance. They also accuse him of constantly changing locations, renting spaces in shops at places like Holland Village and Somerset. It was in March when Mr Lee set up a shop in Marina Square with two partners, but it closed down without warning, leaving customers who had paid for $300 to $500 manicure packages stranded. The women claimed Mr Lee did not answer their calls or SMSes. Attempts to contact him online failed as his blog and Twitter account had been shut down. When TNP contacted Mr Lee, however, he claimed he was also a victim and said he had not been paid since April, but kept turning up for work until the middle of July, when he found the Marina Square shop closed.Currently, five women aged between 20 to 32, have lodged a police report and a complaint with the Small Claims Tribunal.Photos: TNP, ST, Clover Films, Shin Min, Xiaxue's blogPhotos of the gallery show manicurist Deniz Lee and celebrities who he claimed has patronised his shop.
