Recently, Yu Zheng's adaptation of the wuxia novel, The Return of the Condor Heroes, has created an uproar over the female lead.
Michelle Chen, who reportedly snagged the role, was blasted by fans of the novel for being too fat for role.
This is in direct contrast to the public's favorite pick for the lead role -- Angelababy.
However, Christopher Lee, who is starring as the Eastern Heretic Huang Yaoshi in the movie, has defended the choice for the lead role, reports Asian Pop News.
He said: "Every producer has their own views about the casting."
Lee, who played Yang Guo in the 1988 Singaporean series, was asked about his role this time.
He was paired up with his current wife, Fann Wong in the 1988 series.
When asked who was the most beautiful Little Dragon Girl, he said: "Of course, Fann Wong! I even married her."
He added that Andy Lau and Idy Chan's version was the most classic.
