AKB48 member Asuka Kuramochi will be making her solo debut on May 29th with the release of her first solo single.

According to an article in Jpop Asia, the idol will be making her solo debut as a prize for winning the "2nd Gachiuma Queen", AKB48's horse racing project.

She is the 2nd group member to get a solo debut this way, the first being Tomomi Kasai.

Kuramochi's new single will be used in a commercial for the Japan Racing Association which she will star in.

The new single will be released in 5 different versions.

Each version will have a different cover shot by a different magazine.

The 5 magazines, Young Champion, Friday, B.L.T., Weekly Playboy and Weekly Big Comic Spirits, will compete for the best sales of that single.

In addition to her solo debut, Kuramochi has officially entered herself as a candidate for AKB48's upcoming Senbatsu General Elections.
