Ah Nan's family and close friends upset over photos of his body circulating online

SPH Photo: Alan LimA photo showing the lifeless body of 52-year-old veteran local actor and getai star Ah Nan has been making its rounds online.A New Paper report says the photo of Ah Nan, whose real name is John Cheng, shows him lying face up and partially covered by a white sheet. It is believed to have been taken at the mortuary when his family, relatives and friends went to identify his body.The photo is making some of Ah Nan's close friends and his family uncomfortable.“It’s just awkward because he’s dead now and doesn’t look very good in the photo,‘ Ah Nan's wife, Madam Leong Yoke Ching, 48, told The New Paper.Ah Nan, suffered his fatal heart attack moments after he had sung his last song early Tuesday morning at 1.50am at a Parklane club.Ah Nan had also worked closely with Stomp in the past for its annual Getai coverage on Getai A-Go-Go, while continuing to host shows including this recent one at Arumugam Road.Before becoming a performer, Ah Nan was reputed to be a gang member and loan shark runner. In 2006, he had spent six months at a drug rehabilitation centre.He had been having cold sweats and chest pains for some time before the heart attack, and had been on high blood pressure and cholesterol medication.
