Source: The New PaperSINGAPORE - Home-grown heart-throb Aaron Aziz and his meteoric rise to fame across the Causeway as a TV and film actor has had its fair share of press coverage. But Aaron's fans will now have a chance to watch him pour his heart out, on E! Special: Aaron Aziz, which airs on July 7 at 7.30pm on E! Entertainment (StarHub Ch 441).On the biographical show, the former waiter reveals little-known details of his childhood, his love life and the controversies surrounding his career.Aaron, who won the Most Popular Actor award at last month's Social Star Awards, is the only Asian celebrity so far to have his own Asia-produced E! Special. He told The New Paper yesterday over the phone from Kuala Lumpur: "The reality of it didn't dawn on me until after I did the interviews and when they started listing the names of the people they were talking to."I'm happy for this opportunity and I feel very blessed."But the reserved 37-year-old actor said that he had no problem opening up."I have nothing to hide, and besides, 80 per cent of the information everyone already knows... from the papers," he said. On why Aaron was picked for the special, an E! spokesman said: "We are inspired by his story."He comes from a humble background and rose to become (one of) Malaysia's top actors, and major superstars in South-east Asia."We want the people to know the story of Asian celebrities, like Aaron Aziz, who has made it big."Parents separatedAaron said that talking about his growing-up years was probably the most revealing. "Some people don't really know much about it, but on the show, I go into detail."I spoke about my friends and my family. It was emotionally difficult for me as a child because my parents separated when I was young."But that experience made me stronger now and made me into the father that I didn't have," he said.He and his 31-year-old manager-wife Diyana Halik have three children aged eight, seven and three. On the show, Aaron said that he grew up in a strict environment while living with his aunt.In school, he was also conscious about his body image and tried hard to fit in with the popular groups. But a former schoolmate revealed on the show that the ex-Manhunt finalist was already a charmer back then and that he was popular with the girls. He said, laughing: "(My wife) told me that (the producers) called her and said 'we need some dirt on Aaron'."Naturally, many are curious about the woman he married 10 years ago.Who could forget his acceptance speech for his Best Supporting Actor win at local Malay TV awards ceremony Pesta Perdana in 2002,, which saw him call Diyana his "future wife" when their relationship was still relatively low-key.On the E! Special, Aaron and Diyana shed light on how their romance blossomed, their initial impressions of each other and how they established a balanced personal and working relationship.Others interviewed for the programme include Malaysian actress Lisa Surihani, who spoke about kissing him on the cheek in Malaysian blockbuster film Ombak Rindu, while his close friend, local rapper Sheikh Haikel, revealed why he considers Aaron his "brother from another mother".Aaron, who has not yet watched his E! Special, said he is looking forward to doing so.He added: "They did their homework pretty well - they asked questions about things I never thought they knew," he said."I wanted it to be (untainted) and sincere so I didn't ask my friends or wife what they said about me on the show."Related:Aaron Aziz: I'm hotter than Fann Wong?Aaron Aziz trumps Fann Wong and Jeanette Aw in social mediaAaron Aziz to star alongside popular Malaysian actress Siti Saleha in crime thriller
