Six personalities reveal their favourite beach destinations and where they go to chill out under the sun. They also tell us what are their favourite beach destinations and essential products that they bring with them on their holiday.
For deejay Rosalyn Lee, Bali holds a special place in her heart, because of the amazing food and stunning sunsets. Her former on-air partner Divian Nair says diving is a must whenever he goes to his favourite beach destination, Tioman.
His beach essential? Nothing much save for a bottle opener.
Alicia Ong, 31, designer and owner of Little Man store
My favourite beach destination: It's a private beach in Spain, Mallorca - about 30 minutes' walk through small paths from the main Porto Cristo Road.
Think pure white sands and clear waters. It is amazing.
Two must-dos there: Getting a great tan and enjoying a cool beer.
My beach essentials: Febronie Foutas towels are great as beach towels and double as cover-up shawls. I use Coola Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 and wear my trusty, comfortable Soludos espadrilles. -
Divian Nair, 27, director of Storyteller Productions
My favourite beach destination: The Berjaya Resort on the island of Tioman. It feels private because it's usually not too crowded. The chalet rooms are built like tiny stilt houses that are relatively spread out, so it feels like you have your own space.
Two must-dos there: I always go for a diving trip - the dive centre is walking distance from my room. Also, I always rent a scooter and spend my evenings riding around the island.
My beach essential: A bottle opener.
Lisa Crosswhite, 26, founder and director of online retailer Gnossem.com
Favourite beach destination: Boracay. The sand is like flour, the water is gorgeous and the energy and mood of the place are very relaxed.
Two must-dos there: A half-day at the spa and dinner while watching the sunset.
My beach essentials: For a long weekend beach getaway, I'll take eight swimsuits, half of which will be monokinis - so they can double as body suits to pair with loose silk pants when strolling around.I have a large collection of silk scarves and I always pack a bunch of those.
Another two beach must-haves are books and magazines. I'll take the book I'm reading - probably a biography, and the latest Economist.I'll take my mini speakers as well, just in case my villa's speakers are not good enough. I will hook them up to my iPod and doze off with chill beats on.
Stephanie Chai, 31, CEO of TheLuxeNomad.com
Favourite beach destination: The Maldives. No other island or beach in South-east Asia can compare with its turquoise pool-like waters. You really do feel like a drop in the ocean. Where else can you step out to white sand and crystal-clear water?
Secondly, it's peaceful and secluded. I stayed at Naladhu resort and all I saw was the sea for miles.
Two must-dos there: Hang out with your significant other, swim with the manta rays and enjoy the amazing fresh seafood.
My beach essentials: Sunblock! Enjoy the sun but be safe whilst you're at it. Also, my iPod. Nothing better than to laze in the sun, listen to music and daydream away.
Rosalyn Lee, 34, radio presenter at Lush99.5fm
Favourite beach destination: Bali. There is a spirit to it that I can't describe but feel drawn to.
Plus, it's home to awesome local food, Michelin-starred restaurant meals at a steal - the Mozaic Restaurant, for example - stunning sunsets and great architecture like that of the Four Seasons and Amandari resorts.
Two must-dos there: Eat at Warung Babi Guling Pak Malen at Jalan Sunset Road - simple Balinese favourites at a humble shack by the road. So good! Also, head to Potato Head Beach Club for sundowner cocktails and catch the gorgeous sunset.
My beach essentials: Sunscreen, Kiehl's lip balm, black Le Specs cat-eye sunglasses, triangle bikini and my iPod with my favourite rock songs.
Sabrina Van Cleef Ault, 36, co-owner and creative director of Pangaea Singapore
Favourite beach destination: Martha's Vineyard - an island located south of Cape Cod in Massachusetts, United States - is my No.1 beach destination and where we have a house. I will be heading there this summer with my family.
Two must-dos there: I love cycling. I always travel by bike all over the island, even to cocktail parties and balls in dresses and heels.
The second is backyard barbecues - I must do one every day. Though I'm a food and cooking fanatic, I never get the chance to do much cooking in Singapore because of my very hectic schedule. Be it a quick lunch or a four-course dinner, I always set aside a lot of time for grilling outside.
My beach essentials: A fun bright bikini, Shiseido SPF 15 sunblock - I don't mind getting a little tan - and a big funky straw hat or fedora.I have quite a hat collection in Martha's Vineyard - over 30. I'd also pack a colourful tunic, silk scarf, fun wicker beach basket and Havaianas flip-flops. I don't take any other make-up to the beach other than an eyelash curler.
